What You’ll Do
Professionals in these roles may contribute to a range of responsibilities, including:
Disability Management & Return-to-Work
- Lead and manage occupational and non‑occupational disability cases from onset to resolution.
- Develop individualized, safe, and timely return‑to‑work plans in collaboration with employees, unions, healthcare providers, insurers, and operational leaders.
- Conduct vocational assessments and coordinate transitional or modified work placements.
- Facilitate case review meetings and maintain accurate documentation in electronic case management systems.
- Arrange and interpret Independent Medical Evaluations, Functional Capacity Evaluations, and other clinical assessments.
- Provide recommendations for complex cases and ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and human rights requirements.
Occupational Health Nursing
- Conduct pre-placement, periodic, and specialized medical assessments (e.g., aviation, pre-travel, fitness-for-duty).
- Perform certified diagnostic testing including audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, substance testing, and respiratory fit testing.
- Administer immunizations and support vaccination programs while maintaining cold chain and clinical standards.
- Deliver targeted health education related to workplace hazards, exposures, and prevention strategies.
- Respond to workplace medical incidents and support emergency care as needed.
- Maintain clinic operations, equipment, and medical supply inventory.
- Collaborate with public health agencies and contribute to quality assurance initiatives.
What You Bring
We welcome interest from candidates with backgrounds in nursing, occupational health, disability management, claims management, or related fields. Depending on the role, successful candidates may bring:
- Registered Nurse designation with Occupational Health certification (COHN) or equivalent health sciences background.
- Post‑secondary education or certification in disability management, claims management, or return‑to‑work coordination.
- 3–5 years of experience in occupational health, disability management, or related practice areas.
- Current certifications in audiometry, spirometry, CPR/AED, or other specialized assessments (asset for OHN roles).
- Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation systems, human rights legislation, and disability management principles.
- Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and case management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records, case management systems, and standard office software.
