Occupational Health Nurse - Full-Time Onsite

The Role

As an Occupational Health Nurse, you are relied upon to deliver health education, promote employee
health and employee ability. Your days are never the same; one day you’re on a client site in Northern
Alberta performing audiometric and pulmonary function tests, the next you’re leading an influenza
vaccination clinic in an urban office.

This position is Monday to Thursday 10 hrs. per day at client worksite.

Responsibilities

Medical Response & First Aid

Provide immediate care for workplace injuries and illnesses, including CPR, wound care, and
stabilization.

Coordinate emergency medical response and/or transportation to external medical facilities when
necessary.

Document details of each patient visit, ensuring secure and confidential communication and storage

Maintain and inspect clinic stock, medical equipment and supplies.

 

Occupational Health, Psychological Support and Injury Management

Conduct periodic health assessments and fitness-for-work evaluations as needed.

Refer hearing conservation concerns and PFT’s to Occupational Physician for review as needed.

Manage cases of occupational illness and injury, including detailed documentation and return-to-work
coordination.

Liaise with external healthcare providers (for example OIS Clinics) and Workers' Compensation Board
(WCB) as needed.

Support mental health initiatives, psychological first aid, and referrals to Employee Assistance Programs
(EAP) or OIS Clinics as needed

Promote a psychologically safe workplace through education and awareness campaigns.

Collaborate with HSSE and HR teams to foster a culture of health and safety.

Develop and deliver health and wellness campaigns tailored to the plant environment.

Ensure Emergency Protocols and Treatment manuals are current and utilize best practice.

Conduct Mask fit testing.

 

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code and company policies.

Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in accordance with legislative and ethical standards.

Prepare reports and metrics related to health and safety incidents, trends, and program effectiveness as
caseload allows.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)
• Active member of CRNA
• Minimum 5 years OH experience, clinical field work is critical.
• Audiometric certification (current within 3 years)
• Spirometry certification (current within 5 years)
• ACLS/ITLS/CPR Health Care Provider Level with AED training
